Preventative Measures

1. Maintenance- Sweep your deck regularly and don’t allow leaves, especially wet leaves to accumulate. Also clean off spilled food and bird droppings as soon as you spot them. Both can cause stains to your wood.
2. Seal- A deck that goes unprotected can deteriorate quickly. Even a deck treated to prevent rotting can still crack from exposure to water. To protect your deck from water damage, apply a seal at least once a year.
3. Clean- Seals won’t work correctly unless applied to a clean deck. Try using a pressure washer to lift all dirt and loose debris.
